Back in March 2007, your Guide to R&B wrote: "It can be pretty obvious in a singer's voice sometimes when they've actually, genuinely been through some of the drama they sing about. And from one listen to Deemi's 'Soundtrack of My Life,' it's apparent that she's not just singing about it - she's lived it." In other words, instead of singing about nonsensical garbage, Bed-Stuy, N.Y. native Deemi chooses to keep it really real and sing about life's struggles. And that's why she's on the list.
What's Next for Her:
Deemi's debut album, also called Soundtrack of My Life, was due in the summer of 2007, but that didn't happen. So right now, it's anyone's guess as to if/when it'll finally be released.
