Guide Review - Cherish's "Unappreciated"

If there ever was an album that tapped directly into the attitudes and mentalities of the teen urban female of 2006, then the debut album by Cherish, Unappreciated, is it.
Many songs on the album and the songs tackle old topics, but in a fresh, contemporary manner. For instance, back in 1999 Destiny's Child had a hit called "Bug-A-Boo," about guys who keep pestering women for dates. Well, Cherish's "Stop Calling Me" is a modern update of the same theme, and is very different, but just as catchy as the Destiny's Child song.
Maybe the most impressive thing, though, is the songwriting. All the songs' lyrics were written by the four members of the group themselves; and although the girls are youthful (they're all in their late teens and early 20s), their song topics, for the most part, are far from meaningless. They do however, revolve mostly around one subject: guys.
Besides the aforementioned "Stop Calling Me," other songs about men include "Taken," about lusting after a guy who's already got a woman; the title track, which is about a woman who's doesn't feel like she's being given enough attention by her man; and "That Boi," which is apparently about that boy.
The album's only big drawback is the girls' vocal ranges: they're pretty shallow, and it's difficult to tell the voices' apart. Plus, there's not one singer who stands out and raises the music to the next level.
But despite that, Unappreciated is a fun summer album that's likely be a hit with girls from coast to coast.
