The nominations for the 2013 Grammy Awards -- the show's 55th presentation -- were revealed by the Recording Academy on Dec. 5, 2012, and for the fifth year, nominations were announced on prime time television during a one-hour special. This year, for the first time, the special emanated from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The award winners were revealed Feb. 10, 2013 live on CBS, with the show being broadcast from the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. The winners in the R&B categories included some of the usual names you'd expect, like
Usher and
Beyonce, but the list also contains some surprising/unexpected names, like new sensations
Miguel and
Frank Ocean, as well as jazz pianist Robert Glasper. The full list of categories that R&B artists were nominated in is below, with the winners' names in
