New R&B/Soul Albums: August 2009

Just like July was, August is another slow month for R&B and Soul music. Every year at this time, new releases slow down to a trickle since music labels like to wait until September or later to unleash some of the biggest albums of the year. But still, there's a handful of noteworthy releases dropping this month, including the sophomore album by ex-Destiny's Child member LeToya Luckett; albums of new material from Whitney Houston and the legendary Smokey Robinson and the fourth album by R&B/Jazz vocalist Ledisi. 1. I Look to You, Whitney Houston

Whit-Whit's big comeback album, which was almost seven years in the making, will be in stores on Aug. 31 via Sony BMG.
