Mark Edward Nero is a Los Angeles-area journalist and music critic who has written for numerous publications during his decade-plus career. He's also a longtime R&B fan and an amateur musician who dabbles in the acoustic guitar, piano and harmonica.

He has written for numerous publications both within and outside the U.S., and has interviewed dozens of recording artists, including R. Kelly, Babyface, Donell Jones, Mya, Brian McKnight and Raheem DeVaughn. Prior to his work with About.com, Mark's "Rhythm Republic" music column ran on the third Thursday of every month in The San Diego Union-Tribune newspaper.
