Experience

Ken Simmons is a former writer for ThoughtCo who covered rhythm and blues (R&B), soul, and pop music for four years. Ken has more than two decades of experience as a writer, editor, and interviewer creating content for television, radio, print, and the web.

Based in New York City, Ken works as a freelance writer for ABC News, the New York Celebrity page of The Examiner and TheLoop21. He covers R&B and pop music for publications like Contently, Newsle, and The Boombox; and has interviewed hundreds of recording artists including Mariah Carey, Usher, Beyonce, and Alicia Keys.

Ken's experience in local and syndicated broadcasting is extensive; having produced weekly segments and premiere specials for national radio syndication companies such as MJI Broadcasting, Sony Warner Radio Networks, and American Urban Radio Networks. He has also served as a celebrity talent broker for programs on KISS-FM and WBLS radio stations in New York City. Ken is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.

Education

Ken received a Masters of Science (M.S.) degree in Broadcast Journalism from Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Broadcasting from the City University of New York, Queens College.
