June is Black Music Month
The month of June is officially Black Music Month in the United States, a time where the legacy of music by African Americans is celebrated. For various reasons, we won't have a lot of extensive Black Music Month coverage on the About R&B site, but there are a lot of other outlets in cyberspace where you can get the coverage you need, if you're looking for it. One of the more significant ones is the AOL Black Voices Web site, which has a plethora of Black Music Month features, including tributes to legends James Brown and Ella Fitzgerald as well as videos with 30 successful black singers, executives, athletes, authors and comedians discussing how music influences them. The site's Black Music Month content also features a look at 25 top music icons of today and yesterday including Beyoncé, Kelis, Michael Jackson, Queen Latifah, Will Smith and Prince. Additional coverage includes quizzes and photo galleries.
