June Pointer of the Pointer Sisters Dies
June Pointer, the youngest member of the R&B group the Pointer Sisters died of cancer Tuesday, April, 11 in Los Angeles, where she had been hospitalized since late February. She was 52. Family members have said that memorial services for June will be held in both Los Angeles and Northern California, but as of this posting, times have not yet been arranged. The Pointers were known for such 1970s and '80s pop-influenced R&B hits as "I'm So Excited" and "Slow Hand." Their cover version of Bruce Springsteen's "Fire" was recently acknowledged by About R&B as being one of the best-ever R&B remakes of a rock song.Thursday April 13, 2006 | comments (0)
