A couple of weeks ago, yours truly mentioned that one of my favorite up and coming young artists, Josh Xantus (the last name's pronounced zan-tus), is due to drop his latest mixtape, The Antidote, in a few weeks. It'll be the latest in a series of free digital mixtapes Josh has released over the years, which includes Josh X-Mas in 2010, Love Child in 2011 and Everybody Hates Josh X in 2012. The first taste of the new release was dropped in mid-January in the form of the song "Wake Me," a tale of a failing relationship. And now a new track has been leaked: it's another relationship song, but with a digital age twist. "Technology" is the tale of a guy who's frustrated by his girl paying more attention to her Facebook, Twitter, iPad and other devices than to him.
"I get jealous when your phone rings, damn I hate it when you'r texting, Can't stand when you email, send a tweet or an Instagram, I hate it when your friends call, Damn, why'd I buy that iPhone?," he sings. "You really got me wondering, if I was an application would you just talk to me?"
The Antidote, which boasts production by Swizz Beatz, Music Man Ty and others, is due out in March. But "Technology" is already available as a stream and free download on Josh's SoundCloud page; a link's included below.
