As longtime visitors to the About R&B/Soul site may know, yours truly is a big supporter of a young singer-songwriter-musician named Josh Xantus (the last name's pronounced zan-tus). Josh has been featured here many times, starting with the release of his song "Money Makes the World Go Round" back in 2010. Since then, he's been working on his debut album, but has also dropped a handful of free digital mixtapes, including Josh X-Mas in 2010, Love Child in 2011 and Everybody Hates Josh X in 2012. Well, Josh is back and although no debut album is still in sight, yet another of his mixtapes is right around the corner. The first taste of what's to come has been released in the form of the song "Wake Me," a drama-filled tale about a one-sided romantic relationship where one half of the partnership is sick and tired of being the only one trying to make things work.
"I'm in love girl, so in love girl, but you're not in love with me," he sings. "Wake me if I'm dreaming girl, you're making it hard for me to breathe, Wake me if I'm dreaming girl, this kinda love ain't good for me."
The song will be on Josh's latest mixtape, The Antidote, which features production by Swizz Beatz, among others. The Antidote is due out in March and info on how you can get it will be posted here at the time of it's release. In the meantime, "Wake Me" can be streamed at Josh's official Soundcloud page; a link's included below.
