Oftentimes, it can take awhile before you can figure out if a singer is any good, especially if their music is layered with a bunch of audio effects and studio wizardry intended to enhance the singer's voice, but actually end up becoming something of a distraction. But sometimes it only takes a few notes before you know whether a singer has real talent or not and whether that person is someone worth your time. Well now you can add another name to the list of pure singers: Stacy Barthe. Stacy, for those not in the know, is a singer and Grammy-nominated songwriter who's penned material for everyone from Akon to Rihanna to Kelly Rowland. But she's not content being a songwriter: Stacy has also released two EPs over the past year or so, with a third due before the end of 2012. The EP, P.S. I Love You, is apparently the sequel to her 2011 debut, Sincerely Yours, Stacy Barthe. Her first offering is a beautiful social commentary called "Flawed, Beautiful Creatures," a track where she ruminates on the human condition.
"Sometimes we're insecure, sometimes we laugh at each other to make ourselves feel better/Sometimes we lie, sometimes we say things that we really don't mean, but in the moment it seemed like the thing to do," she sings. "We're all flawed, beautiful people, we're all flawed beautiful creatures."
Stacy's P.S. I Love You EP is due out Dec. 11, 2012 via Motown/HomeSchool/Stellar Music Ink'D, but the mellow, sumptuous "Flawed, Beautiful Creatures," which Stacy co-produced with DJ Camper, is available for streaming via the link below.
