In her homeland of the United Kingdom, Scottish singer-songwriter Emeli Sande is one of the biggest artists to come along since fellow UK native Adele. Emeli's debut R&B/Soul album, Our Version of Events, was released in February 2012 in Europe, debuting at No. 1 on the UK albums chart and traded places with Adele's 21 for the top spot over the course of three weeks. She hasn't caught on quite as fast in the United States, with Our Version not getting a U.S. release until June 2012, where it debuted at No. 4 on the Hip-Hop/R&B albums chart and No. 28 on the pop albums chart. But even though she's not yet a superstar in the U.S., she's building a fan base through various means, including the tried-and-true technique of performing live.
