For those not already familiar with him, The Weeknd is the stage name of Abel Tesfaye, an R&B singer-songwriter from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He's a friend and protege of another Canadian artist, hip-hop superstar Drake. As of right now, he hasn't released an official debut album yet, but the three free mixtapes he dropped in 2011 -- House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence -- are all practically full albums themselves. His brand of moody emo-R&B is similar to what Drake was known for earlier in his career, but with singing instead of rapping as the vocal focal point. Anyway, if you're already up on his brand of alternative rhythm & blues and are wondering what it sounds like live, you're about to be in luck. The Weekend is going to be touring much of the U.S. and Canada this fall. On certain dates, he's opening for English indie rock band Florence and the Machine, but on others, he's the headliner. The tour begins with a Sept. 18 show in New Jersey and ends with a Oct. 29 show in Montreal. In between, he'll hit some of the biggest cities in North America, including Chicago, Vancouver, Miami and New York City. The full tour schedule is listed below, with the shows where he's opening for Florence and the Machine listed with an asterisk (*) next to them. Tour dates are always subject to change however, so for the most up-to-date info, including ticket on-sale dates and prices, visit the artist's page at ticketmaster.com.
