Some of the more interesting R&B-related news and rumors from the past week:
- John Legend has a new album coming out and a new tour coming up this fall. The album, Love in the Future, will be his first since Wake Up!, his 2010 retro-Soul project with hip-hop band The Roots. The tour, which kicks off in Florida in mid-October crosses much of the U.S. before ending in California in mid-November. The opening act will be London-based folk-Soul singer Lianne La Havas.
- Joss Stone is touring Europe and North America this fall in support of her latest album, The Soul Sessions, Vol. 2. The trek begins with a Sept. 5 show in London and is scheduled to end with an Oct. 24 performance in Los Angeles.
- Faith Evans, Monifah, Syleena Johnson, Nicci Gilbert (of the '90s group Brownstone) and Keke Wyatt have recorded a theme song for their new reality series "R&B Divas."
- Now that Day26 has announced that it's taking a break, group member Willie Taylor has become the first one with a new song out as a solo artist. It's a duet called "Not Mine" featuring Dondria.
- Music website TheNext2Shine.com has just dropped the third volume in its free series of mixtapes spotlighting under-the-radar R&B and Soul artists, #Discovery Vol. 3.
- And speaking of mixtapes, up and coming R&B singer Deon Young has just released a free new mixtape called Forever Young.
- Elle Varner's debut album, Perfectly Imperfect, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard R&B albums chart, selling 33,000 copies.
- Bobby Brown has checked into rehab as a result of his March arrest for driving under the influence.
- Is Ciara dating one of the newest members of the LA Lakers' roster?
