If you hadn't heard, five ladies whose names should be familiar to most longtime R&B fans -- Faith Evans, Monifah, Syleena Johnson, Nicci Gilbert (of the '90s group Brownstone) and Keke Wyatt -- banded together earlier this year to film their own reality show in Atlanta and elsewhere. The program, which has the relatively bland (but accurately descriptive) name of "R&B Divas," is due to premiere on the TV One network a couple of nights from now. Here's how the network describes the show:
"R&B Divas" takes you inside the lives of these music stars as they work, play and struggle to get their lives and careers back on track. Brought together by their friendship and love of R&B goddess Whitney Houston, these incredible singers are dealing with everything from divorce to drugs and sexuality."
And just in time for the show's premiere, a theme song for the program featuring all five ladies on vocals has just popped up, courtesy of the eOne Music label. And if the show's got it's own official, newly-recorded theme, can a full soundtrack be far behind? Probably not. (In fact, word on the street is that it comes out in October.) Surprisingly, the song's not too crowded, even with five vocalists sharing the singing duties, and it even has an uplifting message about perseverance and inner strength getting you through troubled times. The show debuts at 10 pm Eastern time on TV One and runs for eight one-hour episodes. The theme song, "Lovin' Me," can be streamed via the link below.
