It's been a long, winding road between the first and second albums by Houston-based R&B/pop singer Brooke Valentine -- and the journey's still not finished yet. For those unfamiliar, Brooke released her debut album, Chain Letter in 2005. Although the album wasn't a big hit in the US, it did manage to produce one moderately successful single, "Girlfight," which featured the rapper of the moment, Lil Jon. But after the album came a wave of record label reorganizations and other drama, leading to a series of career ups and downs. Despite a number of singles, including two from her Physical Education album, which wound up being shelved for about three years before being finally released in 2009 as a free mixtape. But seven years after her debut release, an official follow-up album called Forever is finally due out later this year via Subliminal Entertainment. The current single, "Don't Wanna Be in Love," which was just released yesterday, features Brooke singing about heartbreak over the melody to Isaac Hayes' 1969 classic "Walk On By."
