As these words are being written, 2012 is almost halfway over, so it's time to take a look back at the best R&B and Soul albums from the first six months of the year. A number of the names that made the about.com list are internationally known, like Usher, R. Kelly, Monica and "American Idol" winner Ruben Studdard. But there's a number of less-familiar artists too, like African singer Nneka, Detroit crooner K'Jon and British songstress Alice Russell. I’m not going to disagree with these choices, though everyone’s placements would probably be different – matter of opinion.
CDs I also enjoyed this year: Bobby Womack, Emile Sande, Lee Fields, Melanie Fiona, Robert Glasper, Jeff Bradshaw, Brian Culbertson, Haley Reinhart, & Sabrina Starke.
I’m happy that R&B/Soul & R&B/Jazz artists are still releasing great CDs!
