If R&B and rap are two sides of the same coin, then few singers flip that coin more often than Trey Songz. Throughout much of his career, he's not only established himself as a sensitive R&B heartthrob, but he's also established a more rough-around-the edges hip-hop identity as the rapping Trigga Trey. And that point is driven home by the stark difference in the first two singles from his upcoming album, Chapter V. The album's debut single, "Heart Attack," was a passionate open letter about how much a break-up can hurt emotionally. But on the second single, "2 Reasons," he's not only not broken-hearted, but in full party mode with the rapper T.I., singing about how there's two reasons why he's in the club. (You'll have to listen to the song to hear what those two reasons are.) The contrast between the two tracks is incredible, but again, the line between the two styles is something Trey's been successfully straddling most of his career. Chapter V is due out Aug. 21, 2012, and if you haven't had a chance to check out either of the first two singles, you can stream both via the links below.
