Although they had the same last name, modern day Soul singer Leela James and the late, great Blues legend Etta James were not close relatives, or even distant family. No, despite what some people may have thought over the years, the only kinship the two ladies had was musical in nature. But despite that, Leela, who's one of America's more talented, but perennially underappreciated Soul singers, has said in the past that she's felt a deep attachment to Etta James and her' music. It's an attachment that's so strong in fact, that after Etta's death in January 2012, Leela decided to record a tribute album consisting solely of cover versions of Etta James songs. The resulting album, Loving You More ... in the Spirit of Etta James, is due out July 31, 2012 via Shanachie Records.
