Note to dedicated R&B fans: if you're not familiar with the name Marcus Canty yet, get to ready to become familiar over the next year or so. Marcus, a 21-year-old native of Bowie, Maryland, is poised to become a household name in the music world thanks to a stint as a competitor on the U.S. version the reality show "The X Factor." Although he didn't win (he came in fourth), he still managed to parlay his singing talent into a recording contract with Epic Records, thanks in part to his mentor on the show, L.A. Reid, who also happens to be Epic's chairman and CEO. And the signing's already paid dividends: Marcus was tapped to contribute to the soundtrack for the Think Like a Man, which features a who's who of R&B artists, including songs by Jennifer Hudson & Ne-Yo ("Think Like a Man"), John Legend feat. Ludacris ("Tonight [Best You Ever Had]"), Kelly Rowland, Keri Hilson and many more. The song by Marcus, "Won't Make a Fool of You," is a smooth, traditional-sounding R&B jam about a man trying to woo a woman, not with money gifts or gifts, but with honesty and affection. The soundtrack won't be released until April 10, but Marcus' song has been released as a single, and can be streamed via the link below.
