Who's Next: the Future of R&B — 2012 Edition

By January 3, 2012

Follow me on:

Who's Next 2012For years, music critics and fans had been heralding the death of R&B, saying that the genre is on its last legs. But obviously R&B and Soul music are still around and probably will be as long as music exists. And yours truly is here to testify: there's 11 artists who have only released singles and mixtapes up to this point, but will (hopefully) release full debut albums in 2012 that'll prove that good R&B/Soul music is still very much alive. Among them: Frank Ocean, Elle Varner, CJ Hilton, Jermaine Riley and Antoine Dunn. Not all these artists will be household names, rack up huge sales or win lots of awards by the end of the year. But so far, each has displayed an amount of talent that indicates that real R&B is far from dead. And with that said, behold the 2012 edition of Who's Next: the Future of R&B.
