During November 2011, about.com is counting down its picks for the dozen best R&B, Soul and Funk music groups of all time. No. 3 on the list is family band The Jacksons, who were known as The Jackson 5 until they were forced to change their known after leaving Motown Records in the mid-1970s. The group, which made it this high based mainly on the amazing vocal performances of a young Michael Jackson, wasn't just a musical act during its day, it was a cultural phenomenon.
