This song isn't exactly brand-spanking new, but if you've never seen the HBO show How to Make It in America, then it's probably new to you. Aloe Blacc is an R&B/Soul singer from Orange County, California, who's the son of Panamanian immigrants. And his hard times anthem "I Need a Dollar" is the opening song for the HBO comedy-drama that just ended it's first season in April. I've never seen the show, but the song itself is a perfect theme for the recession-era times that we live in now. The song's expected to be on Aloe's upcoming album, Good Things, which is due out later in 2010 from indie Stones Throw Records. No release date for the album's been confirmed yet, but for now, you can stream it's first single by clicking the link below.
