Ray Charles' Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music

By June 2, 2009

Follow me on:

Ray Charles - Modern Sounds in CountryBack in the early 1960s, when the late, great Ray Charles was in his prime, he recorded two albums of remakes of Country songs. And if you've seen the about.com list of new R&B/Soul albums for June 2009, you know that those two albums, Modern Sounds in Countryand Western Music, volumes 1 and 2, are being released as a single package for the first time today (June 2, 2009) by Concord Music. So if you're a Ray Charles fan, a fan of Country Soul, or like non-typical song remakes, I recommend the album. And if you want to try a tune or two out first, a couple of song streams are included below for your listening pleasure: "You Are My Sunshine," which was made famous by Jimmie Davis in the early 1940s; and"You Don't Know Me," which was recorded by both Jerry Valeand Eddy Arnold in 1955-56. Enjoy.
