Melanie Fiona Says "Give it to Me Right"
Tuesday May 5, 2009
It was back in January when yours truly first mentioned Toronto native Melanie Fiona on this site; she was included in the 2009 edition of "Who's Next: the Future of R&B." Back then, her debut album, The Bridge, was due to drop in the spring via Universal Motown. Well, the release date's been pushed back to the summer, but it's still on the way. And for those who haven't had a chance to check out her music yet, here's a stream of the album's first single, "Give it To Me Right," a highly addictive track about needing a man who knows how to properly handle his business in the bedroom. It's sexy without being too sexual and gets a point across without being crass or vulgar, which is what I really like about it. Can't wait to hear more from her. (Oh, and if you're wondering what song is being sampled here, it's "Time of the Season" by '60s psychedelic pop group The Zombies.) To stream the track, just click the link below.
