Yours truly doesn't usually gush with praise about too many artists, especially ones who've only released one album in a four-year span, but the phenomenal Leela James is definitely an exception. Leela, for those who don't know, is a young Soul singer from Los Angeles. She's best known for her song "Music," which was a single from her 2005 debut album, A Change Is Gonna Come. Well, after a long hiatus due to record label drama and other matters, Leela's back and due to release her sophomore album, Let's Do It Again, March 24, 2009 via Shanachie Entertainment. The album is full of remakes of old-school Soul classics, and first single is a remake of James Brown's "It's A Man's Man's Man's World." In the humble opinion of yours truly, it's one of the most powerfully-sung tracks that's come out in awhile. Leela's got an incredible voice that exudes gritty realness.
