Some of the more interesting news and rumors from the past week:
- MTV will completely exploit the Rihanna-Chris Brown incident by airing a news special called "Chris Brown And Rihanna: Love In Trouble," this coming Monday (Feb. 16) at 6 p.m. Eastern/Pacific time.
- Usher's wife was hospitalized last week in Sao Paulo after suffering a cardiac arrest shortly before undergoing plastic surgery, a Brazilian doctor says. She was in Brazil for a liposuction.
- Due to the economy, Vibe magazine is raising its subscription price, cutting paid circulation by 25 percent and reducing its frequency from 12 issues a year to 10.
- Despite speculation to the contrary, Janet Jackson has not signed a multi-rights or long term deal with Live Nation, according to the company.
- Of 2008's top moneymakers in music, Mary J. Blige was the only R&B artist to crack the top 20. (And she barely made it at No. 19).
- Ciara's new album, Fantasy Ride, which was originally expected last year, has been rescheduled for April 7.
- An MP3 of Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" is available for free
on Valentine's Day at amazon.com.
