R&B Artists Among the 2009 Image Award Winners
Friday February 13, 2009
The nominees for the 40th NAACP Image Awards were announced Wed. Jan. 7 and the awards aired live Thurs., Feb. 12 on FOX. The Image Awards celebrate diversity and achievement by African-Americans and other people of color. Dozens of awards are given out in numerous entertainment categories, including television, music, literature and movies. And in both the music and movies categories, lots of R&B artists received nominations, but Jennifer Hudson was the biggest winner. Not only was J-Hud a featured performer, she also took home three awards, including Best Album for her self-titled debut. (FYI, Rihanna and Chris Brown were also among the nominees, but both no-showed for obvious reasons).
