2008 American Music Award Winners

The nominees for the 2008 American Music Awards were announced Oct. 14, 2008 and votes were accepted from Oct. 14 to Nov. 7 at amavote.com, the official voting location. The winners were announced during a live broadcast on ABC from 8 pm to 11 pm ET/PT Sun., Nov. 23. Chris Brown swept the awards, winning three prizes including artist of the year. He overshadowed Alicia Keys, who led the field with five nominations, but ended up with just two statuettes. The nominees and winners in the Soul/R&B categories are below, with the winners in bold text and an asterisk (*) beside them:
