Some of the more interesting news and rumors from the past week:
- Chris Brown has designed a line of branded caps for headwear and apparel maker New Era Cap, which will pay the singer for every hat sold.
- American Idol season 6 alum Melinda Doolittle has finally secured a record deal, over a year after her third-place finish on the show.
- Usher and other celebrities scrambled early this morning after gunshots rang out at a party co-hosted by Jermaine Dupri.
- Sammie, who re-emerged two years ago with "You Should Be My Girl," is back with a new single called "One Way Street."
- Due to numerous song leaks, R. Kelly's had to jump-start the promotion of his next album, 12 Play 4th Quarter.
- Monica's working a stripper pole (sorta) on her new album cover.
- Alicia Keys is going on tour again this fall.

Melinda has been very busy since Idol: touring and cruise-shipping
with Michael W. Smith and Friends, traveling to Africa with the US-delegation for
the Leon Sullivan Summit on development and social issues, hosting and performing
at various charitable events, including The Boiler Room Theatre, Christmas at Belmont
and Millenium Promise/Malaria No More in New York City, sharing the spokesperson
duties for Zaxby’s restaurants and Dryers/Edy’s Ice Cream and
still managing to record a love letter/song for her fans (My Funny Valentine on
iTunes and Amazon.com) and work on her debut CD!
Melinda is truly living out the title American Idol!
kells has some nice jams on 4th quarter…screamer, freaky sensation and playas get lonely…have u heard the rumours that the album wont get released and the whole leak was masterminded by kelly himself
After Kellz’s “Hair Braider” single tanked, I knew he was going to go get desperate. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was him that leaked those songs.

This past week Melinda finally finished the vocals on her CD! All of that happens quickly then we will see her CD on shelves this Fall! Also, keep your eye out for her first official single that should be hitting airwaves in the coming weeks. Melinda is going to be throwing a lot of music at us in the coming months so get ready!
