Album Review: Mario - Go
The originally scheduled release date for Mario's third album was in November 2006, but it wasn't until December 2007 that Go eventually came out. And after finally listening to the final version of the album, one thought immediately comes to mind: all that wait for this? Just like about half the male R&B singers under 30 out there, Mario has bitten a big chunk out of Usher's vocal style, plus added some R. Kelly-style raunch to his lyrics to shake things up and throw some dirt on his previously squeaky clean image. For more, click here to read the full review of Mario's Go.

This review seemed a little short… but I think Mario did pretty OK and I love his cover of that Keith Sweat song. He did show a lot of vocal creativity on this album, why didn’t you mention his vocal skills?? Because I think he really stepped up his vocal game on this album. I love your reviews, they’re always thorough for the most part.
Dmarcus, you must have been reading my mind. This morning I said to myself that I should have written more about Mario’s vocals and not focused so much on the lyrics. The thing is, on some songs he sounds really good, but on others, the vocals are really bland. I will, however, revise the review in a day or two, after I finish reviewing The-Dream’s album.
IMO “Kryptonite” one of the best of the album, the concepts different and relatable. He should have redone some songs considering the fact that his album leaked the web months ago. and b/c of that i dont hink his album will do so well on the charts.
I liked “Kryptonite” up until the Rich Boy part. Then I immediately hated the song. And yeah, the fact that the album leaked two & a half months before it was in stores is definitely a problem for Mario’s sales.
Thanks Nero, I really do think he deserves a little credit for his vocals. You’re one of the best reviewers I’ve known, half I know, shrug it off and go back to sleep. Thanks!
I think his album is good and don’t think at all he is biten ushers vocal style. His voice is smoother and sexier than ushers and quite frankly i think he could be bigger than he already is if his team would promote him right.
