Anthony Hamilton: "Do You Feel Me?" (American Gangster)

Monday October 29, 2007
American Gangster soundtrackYour Guide to R&B usually wants nothing to do with Def Jam, since the label sometimes doesn't treat the online media right as far as providing full streams of songs that don't expire and/or stop working after a few weeks. But even though the first single from the soundtrack to the Denzel Washington flick American Gangster, Anthony Hamilton's "Do You Feel Me," is a Def Jam release, the song's way too good to not get shown any love on this site. "Do You Feel Me" is a great, great old-school track that sticks to your ribs like good Soul food. The link Def Jam gave About.com was only a snippet and they're not about to release the full song online, I'm going to take the very rare step of referring you to a couple of other sites to hear it: AOL.com, which has the video for the song, and DefJam.com, which has the audio-only version. For each, just click on a link below.

(9) Cee says:

I typically do nto listen to secular music to this song speaks to the pure expression of human relation–the concern or fear of a love or relationship being lost. I t is bueutiful and poetic it put in the the mind of the early Al Green era. To bad music, Christian and Secular, has traded profit for quality and purity bu this song shines a a glimmer of hope.
