Monday January 29, 2007
The California Highway Patrol today (Jan. 29, 2007) recommended that singer-actress Brandy be charged with misdemeanor vehicular homicide for her role in a multi-vehicle freeway crash that killed a 38-year-old woman. According to police, Brandy caused the fatal car accident on Dec. 30, 2006, when her SUV struck the back of another vehicle on a Los Angeles freeway. Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have played a part, and Brandy herself was not hurt. The charge carries a maximum sentence of a year in jail and a $1,000 fine, but prosecutors say they haven't yet decided if she'll be charged or not. This incident is just the latest in a series of unfortunate or controverial happenings in the life of the 27-year-old singer-actress.
