R&B News and Rumors - 01/06/07 Edition

Some of the more interesting R&B-related news and rumors from the past 10 days:
- R&B album sales continued to decline in 2006. R&B, with album scans of 117 million units, was down 18.4 percent from 2005. Since 2000, total album sales have slid 25 percent, but R&B is down 41.4 percent.
- R&B singer Mario, best known for the song "Let Me Love You," is one of the stars of the movie "Freedom Riders" that opened this weekend. Mario's third album, Go, comes out in the Spring.
- AOL Music is previewing four songs - including the radio hit "You," which features Lil Wayne - from the singer Lloyd's upcoming Street Love album, which comes out in March.
- On Jan. 9, a bunch of Whitney Houston's stuff from a 1999 tour is being auctioned off to help settle some of the alleged crackhead's unpaid bills.
- Spike Lee has been signed to direct a movie on the life of late Soul singer James Brown.
