Music Spotlight: Monica - "A Dozen Roses"

Wednesday November 1, 2006
Monica: The Makings of MeOne of the best songs off Monica's new The Makings of Me album is the Missy Elliott-produced track "Dozen Roses." The song, built around a Curtis Mayfield sample, is a lush, feel-good, midtempo track. As your Guide to R&B mentioned in his review of the album, the song's theme is nearly identical to R. Kelly's "You Remind Me (of Something)," but Monica herself touches on that point in her song, so it's all good. To stream "Dozen Roses," just click on a link below.
