New Music: Allen Watty - "Racism Song"
Saturday September 9, 2006
About two and a half weeks ago, your Guide to R&B posted a blog entry about "Hurricane Song," a tune by a singer named Allen Watty about the (mis)treatment of Hurricane Katrina victims. The gripping, emotional song told the first-person story of a storm victim stranded on a roof during the hurricane's aftermath. Well, Watty has returned with another gripping, emotional song, one that's sure to cause controversy and push people's buttons. It's called "Racism Song," and the title says it all. It mirrors "Hurricane Song" in that it's a first-person narrative, and it has the same attributes and flaws as "Hurricane Song." The good is that the song's compelling and has great lyrics. The bad is that it goes on too long and is too unpolished. The song's available as a free download, so to hear it for yourself, visit racismsong.com or click one of the links below.
