- The new album from Donell Jones, Journey of a Gemini, debuted atop Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart this week - a first for him. The album was also No. 15 on Billboard's Top 200 albums chart.
- Dallas Austin, the R&B/Hip-Hop producer who was arrested in the Middle Eastern city-state of Dubai on charges of bringing cocaine into the country might be pardoned since the alleged drug was for personal use, not distrubution. His trial starts tomorrow.
- Berry Gordy, the late Otis Redding, Chubby Checker and The Delfonics were among the honorees at the Rhythm & Blues Foundation's Pioneer Awards held Thursday, June 29 in Philadelphia.
- A Summer Jam concert in Iowa that was supposed to feature Chris Brown and Ciara turned out to be a scam. Hundreds of fans were cheated out of the money they paid for tickets. Two men have been arrested in the case.
