R&B Interview of the Week: Kev Samples

Wednesday June 21, 2006
Kev Samples: The Death of R&BR&B singer Kev Samples has created quite a buzz over the past few weeks with a mixtape he's released called The Death of R&B. The compilation, put together with the help of infamous Hip-Hop mixtape DJ Whoo Kid, parodies numerous R&B artists, including T-Pain, Ne-Yo, Jamie Foxx, Ray J and even Jennifer Lopez. Your Guide to R&B caught up with Kev (yep, that's his real name), and asked him why he felt compelled to diss his peers the way he did. He also talked about the current state of R&B, his upcoming album, and why he didn't diss teenage singer Chris Brown on the mixtape.

A lot of people are talking trash about how Kevin re-made these songs but I think it is ingenius of him. It is humorous and at the same time you feel the same way as him.. Why in the world is T-pain in love with a stripper? Well, I’m sure he would love any slightly cute phat booty chick that would look at him more than once but.. does he know its because he is makin it rain on her ass? I doubt he is that keen…Anyways I love Kevin’s songs and I think that more people should listen to them and not judge them just because they like a man that raps about lovin low dollar hoes or a man that is so sick of love songs that he keeps listening to the s__t! Come on now! I like Ne-yo but damn it.. turn off the radio already!

Much love Kev!
