Some of the more interesting news and rumors from the past week:

If you hadn't heard, ex-Destiny's Child member
LeToya (Letoya Luckett) is due to drop her sophomore album,
Lady Love, via Capitol Records on Aug. 25, 2009. It took me awhile to get ahold of this, but here's a free and legal stream of what will probably turn out to be one of the better songs on the album, a sassy and saucy track called "She Ain't Got," on which LeToya harshly disses a romantic rival. You can listen to it by clicking the link below.

The memorial service for the late, great King of Pop,
Michael Jackson, was held July 7, 2009 at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. Dozens of entertainers, athletes, musicians and celebrities attended along with thousands of devoted fans who were lucky enough to be given tickets to the event. Among the performers during the service were some of R&B and pop music's biggest stars, including
Mariah Carey,
Usher,
Jennifer Hudson,
Stevie Wonder and more. This photo gallery is of some of the more powerful images.

It was a long eight years between Maxwell's third studio album, Now and his fourth one, BLACKsummers'night (released in the U.S. on July 7, 2009), but the good news for his loyal fans is that the musical drought was worth the wait. It may or may not go down in history as one of Maxwell's best albums, but BLACKsummers'night is easily and by far one of the best albums of the year. Everything that his fans have come to love about Maxwell - his delicate vocals, his lush song arrangements, his talent for songwriting - are all still fully intact.
